Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral?
No, you don't need a GP referral. Your GP might offer to refer you, which is fine, or you can self-refer.
Do you offer medicare rebates or private health insurance?
Sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates, which means you can access an unlimited number of sessions and enjoy greater privacy throughout your counselling experience. Rebates may be available with some private health funds including Bupa, ahm, HCF, Medibank, ARHG, Grand United and Doctors Health Fund. Please check with your insurer for eligibility. If you wish to claim a rebate on your session fee using your health insurance, please advise at the time of enquiry. I recommended that you contact your individual insurance provider for further information about individual coverage.
Do you do one-off assessments or court reporting?
One-off assessments and court reports are not offered, as my focus is on ongoing therapeutic support rather than assessments or legal documentation.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on why you are coming to counselling and what you are hoping to get out of it. Sometimes people come to counselling for a one-off session or just a handful of sessions to speak about a specific issue in their life or to talk through a particular concern. Counselling is longer term for those wanting to understand long-standing patterns of behaviour that may stem from experiences during their childhood. Some issues can be resolved quickly while others might need ongoing support. Initial therapy sessions may occur weekly, the frequency is then adjusted based on progress and client needs.
What happens in the first session?
Once you have made your appointment, you will receive an introductory email confirming your appointment date and time. This will also outline confidentiality, fees, as well as location details. There will also be an Intake Form for you to complete and return. At the start of the session we will go over the Intake Form together and I can answer any questions you may have about the paperwork. We will then talk about the reasons that you are seeking counselling. Together, we will also start to develop a collaborative, flexible plan for future therapy sessions.
What is the cost?
Individual Session $150 (50 minutes)
Couples or other family members $190 (50 minutes)

For NDIS enquiries, session rates are set to current guidelines and will be confirmed at the time of application. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your session, please provide as much notice as possible. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your appointment, including same-day cancellations or non-attendance, will be charged the full session fee.
How does confidentiality work?
All information that you disclose in your session is confidential. There are three exceptions to this rule. The first exception is if I believe that you are at risk of harm to yourself or someone else. The second exception is if a child or an older person is at risk of harm. The third exception is in relation to a court subpoena. If any of these situations become relevant, I will discuss this with you in more detail.
